ON KUBRICK: BUILD & FILM MINIATURE SPACECRAFT WORKSHOP

  • Madjax Maker Force 515 East Main Street Muncie, IN, 47305 United States (map)

Step into the world of retro sci-fi filmmaking in this free, hands-on workshop at MadJax’s Maker Space, led by Madjax Maker Space Manager Wyatt Vincent. Participants will create vintage-style movie props inspired by Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, using a mix of modern maker tools and traditional techniques to build a miniature spacecraft. Each creation will be filmed in a cinematic fly-by, set against a flat-black space backdrop with fixed LED lights, replicating the 1960s practical effects style of classic sci-fi films. Participants will use a variety of precision and cutting tools available in the Maker Space at MadJax.

This workshop highlights the endless artistic possibilities of the resources available at MadJax Maker Force. The goal is to inspire artists, makers, and film enthusiasts to explore new creative frontiers by creating access to digital and fabrication tools in the Maker Space. Finished props and artwork will be showcased at First Thursday on April 3, 2025, as part of the "Space Age | Stone Age" exhibit at MadJax.
